This popular Irish ferry service will be out of action until Thursday

If you were thinking about heading to Passage East to hop on the car ferry, you might want to make alternative arrangements…

A ‘Sailing Update’ was announced on Facebook late yesterday evening.

The Passage East Ferry Company ferry service usually operates a regular and daily passage across the River Suir linking the small villages of Passage East and Ballyhack. This popular route is favoured by locals for a ‘short cut’ from Wexford to Waterford and vice-versa, but also well-known by tourists heading to visit Hook Head Lighthouse.

In the Facebook statement, the company announced that due to a breakdown, the ferry will not be sailing this weekend; from Friday 6th August through to Wednesday 11th August.

The Passage East Ferry Company are ‘hopeful to be back on (the river) Thursday August 12th‘.

Not the best news for anyone spending the weekend down in the sunny South-East, you may want to add a little extra time to your journey and get Siri to re-route!
