Get a 360-degree view of Wicklow at this new treetop walk and tower

Katy Thornton

Complete with a 38m high slide.

This is a must visit destination over the summer. Avondale Park in Wicklow has just opened a new Beyond the Trees experience where you can get close to nature. The below TikTok from @keith.kane shows the journey you take in action, and the incredible views you get from the viewing tower and walk.

According to Coillte, the new Treetop Walkway structure at Avondale Park was “constructed from high quality Irish wood” using “locally grown Irish Douglas Fir“. At the top you get a 360-degree view of Wicklow and it is 38m above the forest floor. These are the views you’ll see, according to the website:

“You will see the Avonmore River, the picturesque Vale of Avoca and the mountains and lush countryside of a county that many call the garden of Ireland.”

The Treetop Walk experience at Avondale Park is also family friendly. According to their website, there are “children’s play areas, and interpretive points along the way“. They’ll be able to learn about the surrounding wildlife, including birds, plants, trees, and animals that occupy this habitat. And for the adventurous adults and children, they can descend from the top of the tower by slide.

The Treetop Walkway at Avondale Park secures Wicklow as a must-visit county this summer. Ideal for anyone on a staycation out that way.

This experience is wheelchair and buggy accessible. You can bring an assistance dog on the Treetop walk and at the viewing tower, and dogs on leads around the gardens and forest park.

You can book your visit to Beyond The Trees at Avondale HERE. Summer opening hours are between 9:30am and 7pm.
