You should add this stunning little lake to your hike hit list as it's pretty special.
This spot is called Carrigfoyle Quarry and it's located in Barntown, Co. Wexford.
It is, of course, unused but what is left behind from the days of mining quartzite, is this stunning man-made pool.
There is a car park which leaves you with a literal two-minute walk if that is what you fancy.
You can just park up and walk around the lake as I did.
It's then probably a 15-minute walk to get around the perimeter but it'll take much longer as you stop to take in the views.
There are a couple of spots to stop off and take in the beauty. Most of them lake-side but there are one or two higher viewpoints.
Along with looking down into the quarry, there are viewpoints that look back out at the countryside.
It's quite high up so you get incredible scenes.
If you wanted more of a challenge, there is a full trail called the Three Rock Trail which will take you to the quarry along your walk.
I would like to say that there are signs posted everywhere along the quarry warning people of the dangers.
There are cliff edges to be careful of and swimming is not allowed.
If you stick to the paths and take in the views, you'll be ok.
There is also a little pop-up cafe there if you fancy a treat after your hike.
