In general, 2017 was a bit of a romantic sh*tstorm and it's looking like no one will be coming out unscathed.
Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen... It's all too much for us.
There's nothing quite like a bit of escapism to take you away from it all, is there?
Netflix has some great picks when it comes to hugely romantic displays so ease your tired heart with these top choices.
1. Like Crazy (2011)
It's a standard boy-meets-girl story. Felicity Jones plays Brit student Anna, who, on a trip to America, falls in love with Jacob (Anton Yelchin). It boasts star power in the form of Jennifer Lawrence, and strong performances from both leads. The main thing to take away from the film? Always follow your gut.
2. Lars And The Real Girl
Probably an odd one to include, considering the plot revolves around Ryan Gosling falling in love with a mannequin, but it still works somehow. It could be something to do with Gosling's convincingly heart-breaking performance. Sometimes love can be unconventional - and that's ok.
3. Adventureland (2009)
Because love isn't always white horses and Prince Charmings. Sometimes it's clumsy encounters with awkward people, tinged with an air of alcohol and weed. If you can't stand Kristen Stewart or Jesse Eisenberg, then avoid this at all costs.
4. Broken English (2007)
Anyone that's seriously losing faith in finding love needs to watch this IMMEDIATELY.
5. Say Anything (1989)
Because the best kind of love is the teenage kind (and because we all want John Cusack to turn up at our window with a boombox). Sigh.
6. Begin Again (2014)
Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, James Corden and Adam Levine feature in this romantic dramedy about a musician who decides to independently produce her debut record following a tumultuous break-up.
This has a seriously good soundtrack (Keira's got pipes!), and a surprising, but satisfying ending.
7. Blue Is The Warmest Colour (2013)
A French movie – originally named La Vie d’Adèle – Blue is the Warmest Color is still in French, with English subtitles. If you’re happy to read your movies, though, this drama is worth the trek. This movie beautifully demonstrates how life-altering love can be - especially when we're young.
8. In Your Eyes (2014)
Bit of a weird one, this - creator Joss Whedon throws two strangers together, allowing them to share a connection in which they experience everything the other person experiences. Obvious enough what happens next, but undoubtedly, if you feel the magic, you REALLY feel the magic of this one.
9. Comet (2014)
Another strange one (because what love story isn't?) Justin Long and Emmy Rossum fall in love in parallel universes, proving that love knows no boundaries. Also, Justin Long is really hot in this. Like, really really hot.
10. Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World (2012)
Taking the apocalypse genre and flipping it on its head, Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley make a surprisingly great pair in this heart-warming rom-com.
WE LOVE LOVE!
