ABBA bandmember Bjorn Ulvaeus has confirmed that the group will release five new songs next year to coincide with their Abbatar hologram tour.

The rumours are true – ABBA will be releasing five brand-new songs next year. DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW?! Sorry for shouting but this is big news.

Originally due to release two new tracks sometime this year, it turns out that they’ll now release five as their reunion has had to be pushed out until 2021. Confirming the news to journalist Geoff Lloyd on his podcast Reasons To Be Cheerful, Bjorn Ulvaeus described the new music as “very danceable”.

“One of them is a pop tune, very danceable. The other is more timeless, more reflective, that is all I will say. It is Nordic sad, but happy at the same time.”

We’d expect nothing less from the group that brought us bangers such as Super Trouper, Waterloo and Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!.

The announcement comes not long after whispers of a third Mamma Mia movie began swirling. According to Judy Craymer, producer of the previous two films, they were always “meant to be a trilogy”. Well, looks like she’ll have plenty of songs to choose from.
