The humble chip sambo has just been discovered in America and quite frankly, we’re surprised that it’s taken them so long.Â
A staple snack of many a hungry guy or gal in the UK and Ireland (we ate at least two of these bad boys a week in secondary school), the chip butty is, according to NYC based food site Insider Food, a “Turkish sandwich stuffed with fries.”
Ah, lads. C’mon.Â
Insider Food has an impressive feed of insane food creations from all over the world but we can’t believe they think this chip roll lark has anything to do with the continent…Â
Fries aren’t just a side, they are the main attraction ???? pic.twitter.com/tDMW3QjT09

And the replies from people on this side of the Atlantic are pure gas…
Sandwich with fries ???????? it’s a chip butty!! Imagine when they discover you can put curry sauce on that and bring it to a whole other level.

What have you americans been doing for the last 100 years? Ignoring what the world eats? First you try to steal sausage rolls; now your trying to stealth the UK, Aussie, NZ, Irish, Scottish every day “cheap food”? Even in Istanbul; they stole it from the Brits. Worlds laughin@ya

We’re glad it’s on their radar though. Plus, it’s given us some serious inspo for our dinner tonight…Â
