Legendary Italian opera singer and global music icon, Andrea Bocelli, hopes to unite Italy and the world through his music this Easter Sunday.

Andrea Bocelli, the world’s most beloved tenor, will perform a special Easter concert live from the Duomo Cathedral of Milano this Sunday.

A moving video posted to his Instagram describes how the music for hope concert will be “a celebration of life”,  sending “a message of love, healing and hope to Italy and the world.”.

Encouraging people to “not be afraid”, Bocelli will perform in an empty Duomo, accompanied only by organist Emanuele Vianelli.

A statement from the tenor, posted online reads:

“On the day in which we celebrate the trust in life that triumphs, I’m honoured and happy to answer ‘sì’ to the invitation of the City and the Duomo of Milan. I believe in the strength of praying together.”

He later added:

“Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded Earth’s pulsing heart.”

And to think the whole thing will be broadcast free of charge on Bocelli’s YouTube channel. We should be so lucky.  The live stream will begin at 6pm Irish time, so set the alarms and get the tissues ready because it’s going to be special.
