Hulu may have gotten there first, but Netflix won’t be far behind as the popular streaming platform has revealed that their own Britney Spears documentary is also in the works.
Hot on Hulu’s heels, Netflix has confirmed that they’ll release their own take on the story very soon. Directed by filmmaker and true crime specialist Erin Lee Carr, it’s believed that the project was already underway before Framing Britney Spears premiered earlier this month.
Making its Irish TV debut last night, the Hulu special has caused a renewed interest in all things Britney and, while the Free Britney movement has been trending online for quite some time, demand for information surrounding the pop star and her father’s conservatorship is at an all-time high these days.
Causing quite the stir amongst fans, the documentary has sparked concerns over a number of different topics, also calling into question the media’s treatment of the star over the years (as well as other well-known female celebrities in general).
Little else has been revealed about the Netflix special just yet, so it’s unclear whether Carr will choose to hone in on the same things as that of the Hulu counterpart. Either way though, there’s likely to be huge public appetite for more on the story.
