Sharing a photo of the Derry Girls gang reunited via Zoom, some fans failed to read the caption and thought that the photo hinted work has already begun on a third series.
Due to take part in RTE Does Comic Relief, the cast of Derry Girls is hard at work rehearsing for their slot this Friday night. Confirmed amongst a stellar line-up of other Irish stars the programme will see the likes of Hozier, Amy Huberman, Chris O’Dowd, Niall Horan and a long list of others team up for the comedy fundraiser.
Tweeting a photo of the gang rehearsing via video call, Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee captioned it:
“Rehearsing #Derrygirls #RTEComicRelief”.

Reassuring fans that even the wee English fella James, real name Dylan Llewellyn, was there, some failed to read the caption and jumped to the conclusion that series three of the beloved show was underway. Sadly, that’s not the case but here’s hoping production will get up and running as soon as circumstances allow.
Of course, fans are also buzzing at the news that RTE will air a Normal People special. One of the highlights of the night, the programme will feature two new episodes with both Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones reprising their starring roles. Called Normal Older People, it’s believed that the new episodes will revisit the characters 40 years in the future.
