Paul Mescal reveals his favourite Irish pub and that he’s “really looking forward to dating” again

Paul Mescal

Paul Mescal was a guest on the uber-popular I’m Grand Mam podcast over the weekend. Speaking to hosts Kevin and PJ, he dished the dirt on Normal People and how’s he dealing with his newfound fame.

The duo also introduced a special segment at the end of the show that saw them ask Paul a series of random questions – the likes of his favourite Lady Gaga song ((Poker Face… which he later changed to Always Remember Us This Way) and what he’s missing most during lockdown (love/ intimacy/people). Based on a segment taken from the Tyra Banks show, the idea is that each question loosely rhymes with the guest’s name.

When asked his favourite pub in either Ireland or London, “pub crawl Mescal” wasted no time in answering, saying: “The Roost, Maynooth. End of.” A fairly definite answer right there and as Kevin said “great publicity for the gaff”. We predict business will be booming once they reopen their doors to the public.

Paul also filled listeners in on his dating life, admitting that he had actively been using apps prior to the show’s debut but has since deleted them because he didn’t like them anyway.

However, in his own words, he’s really looking forward to dating.

“I’m really looking forward to dating. I’m trying not to think of it being weird because I think, look, we’ve been in lockdown for f*cking months and I’ve had no opportunity to be meeting somebody new or be remotely intimate with anybody.”

“I’m at the point now where I want to get married and settle down. If lockdown ever happens again, I’m making sure that I’m married.”

In other words, he’s single and ready to mingle so there could be a chance for you and Paul Mescal after all.
