Courteney Cox confirms role in Scream 5 with spooky Instagram post

Courteney Cox has taken to Instagram to confirm that she will be appearing the next installment of the Scream franchise as news reporter Gale Weathers.

While she was mostly known throughout the 1990s as Monica in Friends, Courteney Cox picked up a pretty lucrative side gig playing the meddling media personality in Wes Craven’s iconic slasher flick Scream. She reprised her role as Gale Weathers in three sequels and it now appears she’ll be coming back for Scream 5 in 2021.

Taking to the social media site yesterday, Cox posted an image of the ghoulish Ghostface character along with the words ‘I can’t wait to see this face again.’ We’re guessing Gale, Dewey and, especially, Sidney wouldn’t fully agree.

Speaking of Dewey, Cox’s ex-husband David Arquette has already signed up to reprise his role as the goofy sheriff but Neve Campbell has yet to confirm her role as Sidney. You would expect that to change fairly soon as the whole Scream world pretty much revolves around Sid’s efforts to escape the clutches of whatever murderous associate she happens to encounter, depending on the movie.

All going well, Scream 5 will be slashing its way into cinemas next year, a full decade after the most recent movie in the franchise.
