Current series of The Tommy Tiernan Show to be extended by six weeks

RTÉ has confirmed that the current series of The Tommy Tiernan Show will be extended by a further six weeks.

In news that is sure to be welcomed by fans of The Tommy Tiernan Show, the current series of RTÉ’s Saturday night ratings-winner will now wrap up on April 17. It had been due to finish this weekend (March 6) but popular demand has led to the run being extended.

An RTÉ spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “The Tommy Tiernan Show on RTÉ One has been extended by six additional weeks, bringing the series to a total of 16 weeks. The final episode will air on Saturday, April 17. It is a much-loved show and the love on social media for it and Tommy every weekend is constant.”

Fans have fallen in love with the unique format of The Tommy Tiernan Show, which sees the identity of guests hidden from the host before they appear on stage. It leads to off-the-cuff, improvised chats and many have praised the comedian for his interviewing style.

Guests this series have included the likes of Brenda Fricker, Brian O’Driscoll and Stephen Rea.
