Songs from an Empty Room aired on RTÉ last night, providing audiences with a night of live music while simultaneously highlighting some of the country’s finest performers.
A one-off live music event, Songs from an Empty Room saw some of Ireland’s top singers, musicians, bands and performers get together for a night of craic agus ceol in support of Minding Creative Minds and the Association of Irish Stage Technicians (AIST) Hardship fund. Set up as a means to raise awareness and support for those working in the live events industry, the money raised will be divided between the two organisations.
Over two hours long, the show featured performances from a number of the country’s most-loved live music venues including Dublin’s Olympia Theatre, Cyprus Avenue in Cork, Dolans in Limerick, the INEC in Killarney and of course the Róisín Dubh in Galway.
Several big names in the music industry signed on to be a part of the project with performers ranging from the likes of Aimee, Fia Moon and James Vincent McMorrow to Danny O’Reilly of The Coronas, Picture This, Soule and The Academic to name but a few.
Viewers were absolutely blown away by the talent, commending the project for its important message.
Songs from an empty room was excellent and such an important message.

Just watched 'Songs from an Empty Room' on RTÉ and my god the talent of our land. All of which wouldn't happen with the amazing crews behind them. The industry is currently in a lot of doubt with everything cancelled for the rest of the year so please support any way you can ☀️ https://t.co/aoenKY3FQr

Teaming up with guitarist Noel Hogan, fans were especially impressed with Danny O’Reilly’s cover of the Cranberries hit Linger which you can watch below.
