Dermot Kennedy is working on new music with fellow Irishman Niall Horan.

Two of the biggest names in Irish music, fans have been calling for a Dermot Kennedy x Niall Horan collaboration for quite some time. Confirming that the duo has been cooking up some new music, Kennedy claims that the track “may never see the light of day”.

Chatting to Ray D’Arcy during the week, Kennedy talked about everything from his sold-out Radio City Music Hall performance to his upcoming Some Summer Night gig. Due to perform in the Natural History Museum, the singer will be joined by special guest Paul Mescal.

Also speaking of a collab with former One Direction star (and national treasure) Niall Horan, Kennedy said:

“I did a bit with Niall. It was gas. It was this thing where we were sending ideas back and forth on WhatsApp. At one point he was like, ‘Will I call you?’ I was like, ‘It’s grand! This is fine! We’re getting our point across!”

Asked when we can expect to hear the end product, the Dubliner gave a vague “who knows”, adding that the track lives with Niall and so we’ll have to follow up with him.

“Who knows? We will see. The amount of this stuff that goes on and it may never see the light of day. Who knows?… Good tune.”

Why would he tease us with new music only to take it all away again?! What say you Niall?
