PICS: The Derry Girls Mural Just Went Up In Derry City And It Looks Brilliant

Kiara Keane

The cast of Derry Girls have been honoured with their very own mural that just went up in Derry City.

Erin, Orla, Clare, Michelle and James were painted on the side of Badgers Bar on Orchard Street in honour of their return to our screens for season two.

The artwork was created by the Derry-based, non-profit social enterprise UV Arts along with the Channel 4 in-house creative agency, 4Creative, as part of their latest ad campaign.

Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare, shared a picture of the painting getting underway on the side of the building over the weekend, calling it “so surreal”.

She later shared a photo of the finished mural and thanked UV Arts for their “incredible work and talent”.

Season two of the hit comedy series recently wrapped filming and is expected to arrive on our screens in early March.

Speaking about the new season on BBC Radio Ulster’s The Nolan Show earlier this month, the show’s creator Lisa McGee said, “I love it. We’re editing it now.

“It’s better than season one, it’s a bit more ambitious and because we know what we’re doing a bit more, it’s better.”
