Ellen Page is a fan of Dating Amber, taking to Twitter to show the new Irish movie some love.

For anyone who may have missed the buildup to the movie's debut last month, Dating Amber is a new Irish movie available to stream on Amazon Prime. Starring Normal People actor Fionn O'Shea and Belfast actress Lola Petticrew as Eddie and Amber, it's set in Ireland during the mid 90s.

Best friends, the movie tells the story of how the two embark on a fake relationship to avoid questions about their sexuality. In a line - they're each other's beards... which coincidentally was also the former name of the movie.

Keen to follow in his dad's footsteps Eddie wants to join the military. Amber on the other hand dreams of bigger and brighter lights in London, however, things inevitably begin to unravel for the pair forcing them to face their inner demons head-on. Described by many as a cross between Sex Education and Derry Girls, the movie has even grabbed the attention of Hollywood actress Ellen Page.

Tweeting a cartoon promo poster for the movie, the Juno star accompanied it with some very high praise, writing:

"I adore this film by the remarkable @david_freyne. Deeply moving and funny AF with stunning performances from @FionnOS and @LolaPetticrew"

She's not alone either as public response to the movie has been overwhelmingly positive since it first aired online earlier this summer. A number of Fionn O'Shea's former Normal People co-stars have also shown their support with both Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones encouraging people to give it a watch.
