Just like our own summers of yore.

As Corkonians will waste no time telling you, there’s no better place for a holiday than West Cork. Every summer, thousands flock to enjoy the dramatic coastlines and tumultuous weather conditions, including supermodel and NYT bestseller Emily Ratajkowski.

A frequent visitor to West Cork and Bantry in particular, Ratajkowski shared snaps this week of herself and her son Sly enjoying the countryside, picking blackberries and getting up close and personal with a friendly field of heifers.

The model’s connections with the area run deep – Emily has two Irish grandmothers, her full name is Emily O’Hara Ratajkowski and she even sponsored the local basketball team back in 2018, providing jerseys for the u16s and giving them a shout out on Twitter after they became All-Ireland champions.

Describing West Cork as her “home away from home”, Emily also headed out for a sea safari with boat tour business Bantry Bay Boat Hire. The business shared a snap of her on their Instagram, writing:

“Delighted to have @emrata and her family join us for another trip on Bantry Bay. We know she loves this place as much as we do so it’s a joy to take her on a boat tour every time she visits West Cork”.

Emily has the right idea – if there was ever a place to go as a celeb where no one would make a fuss of you, other than quietly remarking “who would her father be now?” as you stroll out of the local shop, it’s West Cork. Hopefully she’ll be back for Beamish and blackberries again soon.
