James Fenton

Enniskerry village is set to come to a standstill today as filming of Disney sequel Disenchanted begins.

The Co. Wicklow town will be closed “for the most part” as filming takes place from 7am until 10pm from today until Friday. Disenchanted stars Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams, who arrived on these shores some weeks ago in order to prepare for the project.

After wrapping up on Friday, the cast and crew will return to Enniskerry to film from July 6 to 9 between the hours of 5pm and 7pm, and then again on Wednesday July 21 and Thursday July 22 from 7am until 10pm.

Disenchanted is the sequel to 2007’s Enchanted which tells the story of a fairytale princess who is sent to New York City by her wicked stepmother. The sequel will pick up events 15 years on, with the characters having moved to a suburb called Monroeville, which is overseen by the evil Malvina Monroe.

The movie is set to be released on Disney + in 2022.
