9 Outstanding Places You Have To Visit In Connacht This Summer

Summer – a time for doing new things with friends and family so here’s a list of thing you gotta do if you’re in Connacht this summer.

1. Kylemore Abbey, Galway

Kylemore Abbey is a beautiful old monastery that was founded in 1920. Learn about the history of the abbey and explore the gardens.

2. Galway Atlantaquaria

Galway Atlantaquaria is the largest aquarium in Ireland and they have plenty of exhibits like the ray pool, ocean tank, touch pools, fin whale skeleton and activities like feeding the fish and touching starfish and crabs.

3. Croagh Patrick, Mayo

Croagh Patrick is a mountain in Mayo and an important pilgrimage site with magnificent views from the top of the mountain. A must for a lovely summer day. 

4. Brigit’s Garden, Galway

Bridgit’s Garden is a fun place for the whole family with Celtic gardens, kid’s discovery trail, nature trail, ringfort and Crannog, willow play area and sand pit, gift shop and the garden café.

5. Connemara National Park

Connemara National Park is a gorgeous place for a day out, with bogs, grasslands, wildlife and scenic walking trails.

6. Westport House and Pirate Adventure Park

Westport House dates back to the 16th century and is full of history. The pirate adventure park is also a must for the summer with roller coasters and pedal boats so there’s no shortage of things to do. 

7. Lough Key Forest & Activity Park, Roscommon

This enclosed activity park has something for all ages. The Adventure Play Kingdom gives amusement to all the smaller humans while the Boda Borg Challenge will test the mental skills and physical skills of those over the age of 7.

8. Funny Bones in Collooney, Sligo

This is an indoor children’s play centre with Go Karting, Laser Tag and a 6-metre tall climbing wall and a high ropes course.

9. Glendeer Pet Farm, Roscommon

Nothing is more fun than petting, feeding and holding super cute farm animals, and in Glendeer Pet Farm you can do all three. They have many animals like deer, pigs, llamas, emu, ostrich, goats, donkeys, sheep, monkeys, wallabies and a tortoise.
