This Gorge Fairytale House In Cork Looks Like A Real-Life Disney Castle

Sarah

Living in a fairytale castle would legit by a childhood dream come true, and lucky (well lucky if you’re feckin loaded) for us in Ireland, there’s no shortage of dreamy castles, towers n’ all, to admire.

And this one in Clonakilty, Cork, certainly ticks all the Disney boxes.

Turrets? Yep. Secret gardens? You betcha. It even has a ‘Pear Tree Cottage’ onsite.

With eight bedrooms and FIVE “reception” rooms, Lisselan House dates from 1851 and is built in the stunning French chateau style, with an impressive Edwardian gardens that stretch over 30 acres and its own golf course.

Pretty perfect isn’t it?

The accommodation is laid out over four levels, with the main reception rooms all found on the ground floor, the principal bedrooms over the first and second floor and at lower ground floor there is excellent accommodation including the snooker room (former kitchen) and “staff accommodation.” AKA where your mates can crash.

The rooms are all bright and airy with views to the gardens below and the drawing room and dining both open to a large terrace which is just perfect for summer meals al fresco.

Lisselan Gardens feature a rose wreathed pergola, water gardens, rustic bridges, and walled gardens which grow logan berries, strawberries, raspberries and gooseberries.

Vegetables are also harvested; potatoes, cabbage, lettuce, onions, peas and beans, and herbs such as parsley, thyme and sage are thriving, and there’s also an orchard on the slopes of the walled garden that produces apples and pears.

You could happily spend the rest of your day pottering around here…
