First Dates Ireland set to look very different with social distancing in place

First Dates Ireland is returning on Thursday, February 11 and things look a little different this time around.

“Things are a little different in the First Dates restaurant.”

RTÉ2 has posted a trailer in anticipation for the return of the Irish version of the Channel 4 show, and we dee single hopefuls enjoy a very different first date experience.

The trailer shows the first daters showing up to the restaurant, but this time wearing masks. In one part, we see a girl taking off her mask and realising her makeup has partially come off: “This is art.” Oh, the world we live in now.

When the daters head to their table, you might notice its unusual shape as one of the waitresses says, “You might have noticed you have a nice long table”. One couple even uses cups and string to communicate from a distance. And when they meet up after the date for that awkward yes/no question, they’re on the opposite sides of a perspex screen.
