Start of a new week, celebrate with some decent films on your telly tonight!

That weather looks a bit manky. Best to stay in on the couch and watch some of these instead.

Star Trek Beyond – FilmFour – 6.40pm

The crew of the USS Enterprise explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy (Idris Elba), who puts them, and everything the Federation stands for, to the test.

Shazam! – RTE Two – 9pm

A newly fostered young boy (Asher Angel) in search of his mother instead finds unexpected super powers and soon gains a powerful enemy. Stars Zachary Levi, Mark Strong and Adam Brody.

Knowing – Sky One – 9pm

M.I.T. professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) links a mysterious list of numbers from a time capsule to past and future disasters and sets out to prevent the ultimate catastrophe.

Star Trek – TG4 – 9.30pm

The brash James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) tries to live up to his father’s legacy with Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto) keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan (Eric Bana) from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.

Deepwater Horizon – FilmFour – 12.10am

A dramatisation of the disaster in April 2010, when the offshore drilling rig called the Deepwater Horizon exploded, resulting in the worst oil spill in American history. Stars Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell and John Malkovich.
