Creative Kids is a new documentary on RTE, focused on creativity and the Arts in primary and secondary schools around Ireland.
Parents all across the country have praised the documentary since it aired last night, hailing it “a wonderful initiative” and a fantastic way to inspire young minds. An initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme, the project is supported by the Arts Council, the Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
Filmed pre-lockdown, the documentary follows five schools over the course of the academic year, showing how they implemented the Creative Schools project and encouraged their students to think about creativity and the Arts “in a whole new way”. Schools in each of the four provinces took part with two schools from Dublin, one from Kerry, one from Mayo and one from Donegal getting involved with the show.
Students and teachers came together to discuss what type of project they’d like to work on, and viewers have been amazed at the young students’ passion and enthusiasm – with one saying that it’s “a refreshing reminder of the innate brilliance of kids”.
Congrats to all the children who featured in tonight’s #creativekids doc, & their teachers too. A refreshing reminder of the innate brilliance of kids & how top priority of education system should be just not to stifle that!
