Here is your first look at Kristen Stewart in the new Princess Diana movie

Rory Cashin

The movie is written by the creator of Peaky Blinders.

While it feels like it has been only a few weeks since we got to see the most recent on-screen version of Princess Diana, via the fourth season of The Crown, it is likely we’ll get to see another version of the princess before the fifth season of that show airs.

Neon Pictures posted the very first picture of Kristen Stewart as the Princess of Wales in the upcoming movie Spencer, which you can check out below.

Directed by Pablo Larraín (maybe best known for Jackie, the Natalie Portman-starring biopic of JFK’s widow following his assassination), and written by Steven Knight (creator of Peaky Blinders), the plot synopsis is as follows:

“During her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, Diana decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.”

The film also stars Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris; we’re guessing as Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Charles, in that order.

Filming only began this month, so we likely won’t be seeing the finished product before the beginning of 2022, but chances are this could see some Oscar nominations in the future.
