Last night’s First Dates episode proved to be more of a tear-jerker than people were expecting, with one couple’s tales of loss really moving viewers.
Navigating the dating world is tough enough without having to factor loss into the equation. However, eager to find love – despite past heartbreak – one couple left a lasting impact on viewers with their respective stories.
Pairing Marie and Denis together, throughout the course of the evening the duo told one another of their dating past with Marie explaining that she’s been a widow for the past 11 years.
Saying that she’d love to find someone, not because she needs them, but because she’d like the company. Commenting that the worst part of heartache is the loneliness, Marie said:
“That loneliness that nobody really understands and you can’t keep telling people how lonely you are.
Echoing much the same sentiments, Denis found himself in a similar situation having lost his wife just two years prior.
“The bit of loneliness is always there, and the missing of talking before you go to bed at night,” he said.
Striking a chord with viewers, people were very much team Denis and Marie with the Twittersphere full of their praise.
Omg, both Denis and Marie deserves only the best of things for the rest of eternity! I'm not crying, your crying!

Denis and Marie both seem like lovely humans. She was so honest and compassionate, and he was such a gent about them ending it there and thanked her for her time (which a lot of men could learn from) #FirstDatesIRL
