Kodaline surprised two NHS workers with an acoustic performance at their virtual wedding

Kodaline have made a newlywed’s couple big day that bit more special with a surprise performance at their virtual wedding.

Yesterday afternoon, Steve Garrigan, the lead singer of Irish band Kodaline surprised two NHS workers with an exclusive performance at their virtual wedding.

Like many other couples around the world, paramedic Stefan Frost and modern matron Louise Kibbey were forced to cancel their wedding amidst the global pandemic. But while their in-real-life ceremony may have been cancelled, their big day still went ahead via a virtual Zoom ceremony organised by Oxfordshire radio station JACKfm.

Tuning in via Facebook live, the couple’s friends and family looked on as they tied the knot with one other very special guest popping on for a quick hello… none other than Kodaline frontman Steve Garrigan.

Having recently recovered from coronavirus himself, Stefan and Louise were looking forward to celebrating their big day, made all the more special with an intimate acoustic performance of the Kodaline song The One – the song the newlyweds had chosen for their first dance.

The local radio station made sure to give the couple royal treatment they deserved, gifting them a wedding cake, flowers, food, drink and a videography service to capture the whole thing on tape.

Speaking of the surprise performance, Louise said:

“This has honestly been one of the best days of our lives and to have Kodaline performing the song that we’d planned to have our first dance to was just incredible. We feel so fortunate.”

Saying that they were only too happy to get involved, Steve added that “the efforts of the NHS during this pandemic are just monumental” and so it was the least they could do to show their thanks.
