Audiences have hailed last night's RTE Investigates episode as "essential viewing", praising it for highlighting the huge impact that Covid-19 has had on people across Ireland.
RTE Investigates: Inside Ireland's COVID Battle aired on RTE on Monday night, giving viewers an insight into the daily struggle faced by frontline staff in tackling the impact of a global pandemic.
Gathering the footage over the course of a month, the RTE team spent 30 days filming in St James' Hospital in Dublin - rolling cameras for up to 12 hours a day. Capturing the realities of what life is like behind the scenes, viewers have described it as very powerful.
Reacting to the latest episode online, many have said that it should be mandatory viewing with one writing:
"Everyone needs to watch #RTEInvestigates. Wear a mask, take responsibility and don't travel abroad for a holiday this summer. This documentary is the stark and moving reminder that we need to continue to mind each other."

New Taoiseach Micheal Martin reiterated the above, praising the country's frontline staff for their tireless work.
"Tonight’s #RTEInvestigates was a stark reminder, as restrictions are relaxed, of the indiscriminate cruelty of Covid-19 and the threat it represents. The courage, dedication and sensitivity of the team at @stjamesdublin, like @HSELivestaff across the country, is an inspiration."
