Rod Ponton, the man at the centre of the most-talked about video of the past 24 hours has moved to explain how he ended up being the ‘viral cat lawyer.’

On Tuesday, a video in which U.S. lawyer Rod Ponton appeared as a cat filter during virtual court proceedings was shared far and wide. In it, Ponton is heard attempting to explain to the bemused judge why he has appeared as a cat and that he is in fact “not a cat.”

The post has since been viewed millions of times and if you’re one of the few who hasn’t seen it, you can watch it below…

Ponton has now spoken out about being a viral sensation, explaining that “I logged into my secretary’s computer to appear at this hearing via Zoom, and when everybody’s ready the judge calls the case and everybody’s face is supposed to pop up on Zoom. And everybody’s face popped up except mine. Mine was a cat.”

That it was, Rod. He went to on to warn people to “make sure your kids don’t have a bad meme or filter on the computer if you’re trying to do something serious.”
