The couple, who made a full recovery from Covid-19, are raffling off the dotey little cottage as a thank you to frontline staff who helped them while sick.

An Irish couple is raffling off their Mayo holiday home as a fundraiser for frontline staff who cared for them while sick with Covid-19.  Having made a full recovery from the virus, the duo wanted to do something to show their thanks to those who looked after them – deciding to raffle off their dotey little cottage and donate the money raised to Ireland’s healthcare professionals.

Organised by CK Properties and Auctioneers, tickets to enter the raffle only cost a tenner. Yes, a TENNER! Meaning that if you won, you could technically say that you bought your own gaff for less than the price of your weekly shop.

Describing it as “a deal you cannot let pass”, a post on the company website reads:

“It took enormous courage for all Health Care Workers to do what they did, every day, going into work, knowing they could be infected at any time. The vendors want to acknowledge what they did and the money raised is a simple gesture.”

Located near Foxford in Co. Mayo, the cottage can only be described as postcard-pretty – surrounded by nature, it’s situated at the banks of the Yellow River. Oozing “charm and life from every corner”, the cottage dates back over 100 years giving it plenty of history and character.

And with most of the country opting for local holidays this summer, having a holiday house in the wesht would come in very handy.  There’s a reason people from the west waste no time in telling you it’s the best part of the country. Hate as we might to admit it, they have a point and when the sun shines there’s nowhere we’d rather be. Enter here and may the odds be ever in your favour.
