Miley Cyrus reaches out to Leo Varadkar asking for support

US singer Miley Cyrus has tweeted Leo Varadkar asking him to support a Global Goal Unite initiative that aims to unite European leaders in the fight against Covid-19.

Not the most likely of friends, or even acquaintances, but it seems that Miley Cyrus has reached out to An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar asking him to join a Global Goal Unite initiative that is looking to ensure a “safe, swift recovery from COVID-19”.

Tweeting Leo a message, the former Hannah Montana star wrote:

“All across Ireland citizens joined in solidarity with Black Lives Matter in the US. We must stay united with the world to tackle #COVID19 and the racial injustice of health inequalities. Please join us, PM @LeoVaradkar? #GlobalGoalUnite”

Part of a global effort to support people in the battle against Covid-19, the singer also shared a link to the Global Citizen website. A post on the site explains more about the cause and what it’s calling on European leaders to do.

“The impact of coronavirus in European countries and beyond has been dramatic. From lives lost to job insecurity, life for millions of people has been turned upside down. As populations everywhere look for a light at the end of the tunnel, our best chance of a return to normality is for tests, treatments and a vaccine against COVID-19 is to be available equally to everyone.

COVID-19 has crossed almost every border, and it will take cooperation across borders to beat it. To lessen the pandemic’s lasting global impact and help prevent a second wave, we need to work together and make sure the most vulnerable are not left behind.”

Calling on European leaders to unite in an “international effort to eradicate COVID-19 for good”, they’re hastening to get those in positions of power to commit to the cause ahead of an international summit on June 27th.

Leo has yet to respond to the tweet, but it would be pretty hard to miss a mention from Miley Cyrus so it’s probably only a matter of time.
