Bono, Bono, Bono — when are gonna learn, man?
The U2 frontman, who is no stranger to a good controversy, has caused a stir yet again by referring to modern music as “very girly”.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bono stated that it’s become difficult for men to channel their repressed anger into music as it’s now just too feminine. He said:
“I think music has gotten very girly. And there are some good things about that, but hip-hop is the only place for young male anger at the moment — and that’s not good.”
Needless to say, the people of Twitter were not best pleased.
…Bono…from U2…thinks music…has gotten too “girly” for boys to express their rage…
Bono…from U2…
When has U2 expressed anything but what unseasoned chicken would sound like if it had to listen to U2’s music. https://t.co/1IuSMIKtpK

PRT “music is too girly for boys”?! I know Bono is the king of ridiculous takes but was his eggnog left out of the fridge for too long or something?! ????

OK Bono @U2, define ‘girly’. You might say that in some ways it’s a good thing but pretty sure you’re using it as a pejorative term.

WTF… Bono believes that men have sole claim to angry feelings and angry music! That’s offensive enough … then he rolls out the ‘girly’ reference!! What a tool! pic.twitter.com/x6fSedyJLE

So, yeah, folks are less than impressed with the rocker.
But what do you think? Were his comments unfair or is this just another case of Bono bashing? Give us your thoughts in the comments.
