Ahhh – Ed Sheeran Plays A Legendary Secret Irish Pub Gig

Darragh Berry

Nearly there, Ed.

He wowed fans in Cork during the Bank Holiday, he brought fans to their knees a couple of days after that in Belfast and Galway Girl will forever be ringing out around the Salthill Prom following his electric shows at Pearse Stadium.

Ed Sheeran has played to hundreds of thousands of Irish fans over the last ten days but his most intimate and special gig took place just after the Belfast one on Wednesday night – and no, we’re not talking about the first night in Galway.

He was spotted in this restaurant on Thursday night and we were sickened to miss it but this time, our sickness is even worse.

The Irish Mirror is reporting that the musician played showed up at a bar on Berry Street after he finished playing to over 40,000 people at Boucher Road.

The pub which is situated in the middle of Belfast City is a haven for traditional folk music.

A former mayor of Belfast recommended that the star should visit the spot back in 2014 and he must have finally taken his advice all these years later…

A source told the publication that:

“He had his guitar with him so he must have arrived with the intention of playing a few hits.

“He was happy to chat away with the locals and have a drink. He really seemed to enjoy himself in the pub.

“Maddens is famous in Belfast for traditional music and someone in Ed’s team heard about this and told him it would be a good place to relax after the gig.

“Everyone had a great time and were singing along while he played the guitar.”

We wonder did he appear in any pubs in Galway on Sunday night for a sesh, or if he’ll pop into any Dublin watering holes this coming week.
