Seven Irish Acts You Need To Check Out At Forbidden Fruit This Weekend

Alan Fisher

We are on the brink of festival season with Forbidden Fruit ready to kick it off this weekend.

If it would just stop f**king raining before then, we would really appreciate it but nothing will dampen our spirits for this.

Skepta, Mura Masa and Elbow are all set to headline and in my opinion, it’s probably the best line-ups I’ve seen at Forbidden Fruit with a huge amount of Irish acts to thank for that.

So to get you ready, here are seven Irish acts you need to check out this weekend:

1. Kojaque

A man who needs no introduction at this stage but who can not be missed.

This Soft Boy has exploded onto the scene over the last year with songs like Eviction Notice, Bubby’s Cream and most recently, Flu Shot.

He hits the Undergrowth stage at 5pm on Saturday.

2. JyellowL

Oh Lawd catapulted this man into our ears at the end of last year and has been a favourite ever since.

He plays on the Someplace Else x District stage at 5pm on the Sunday.

Check out Ozone, his latest release, here:

3. Pillow Queens

Currently on a European tour playing their own gigs along with supporting SOAK, Pillow Queens are definitely ones to check out this weekend.

Their brand new single, HowDoILook was released less than two weeks ago and there is definitely a hype about their appearance on Monday, 6pm on the Someplace Else x District stage.

4. Soda Blonde

We were all devastated when Little Green Cars decided to call it a day earlier this year but then four out of the five members came back to create Soda Blonde.

After only forming very recently, you’ll want to be one of the first to see them live at Someplace Else x District stage, Monday, 8pm.

5. Sour Fruit

I went for a quite pint with my mates in The Harbour Bar in Bray when I stumbled across these guys.

Their incredible energy caught my, and everyone else’s, attention and I’m making sure to see them this Sunday at 2.15pm on the Someplace Else x District stage.

6. Wastefellow

This young producer and songwriter from Dublin is one to watch.

His brand new track, Fizzy Lifting Drinks, will get you in the mood for the weekend.

Catch him on the Someplace Else x District stage on Sunday at 4pm.

7. Luka Palm

Make sure to check out another Soft Boy at the Someplace Else x District stage on Saturday, 9.30pm.

Check out his song, Nightlink:
