These Are The 14 Songs Irish Couples “Ban” From Their Wedding Playlist

Sarah

We’ve all done the Macarena at an Irish wedding, or (god forbid) the classic moves of Rock The Boat.

It’s a bitta craic, right? A rite of passage of a wedding music playlist, so to speak.

Well, apparently Irish couples are taking charge and banning certain songs from being played on their big day, and the more we think about it, the more we agree with them…

The Vow reports that 14 songs in particular consistently make the ‘banned list’, with professional DJ Darragh Jones telling them that “one person’s ‘must play’ list could equally be another person’s ‘do not play’ list.

“Often this is down to music snobbery”, he added.

These are the most banned songs, according to Irish wedding DJs

  • Wagon Wheel
  • The Birdie Song
  • Rock the Boat
  • The Cha Cha Slide
  • YMCA
  • The Macarena
  • My Heart will go on
  • I Will Always Love You
  • I Gotta Feeling
  • Despacito
  • The Grease Megamix
  • Galway Girl
  • Hokey Pokey
  • The Conga

What do you think, would you be in favour of these playing on your wedding dance floor?
