Will TIDAL Outrun Spotify & Deezer?

louisejohnston

TIDAL a music streaming service has just launched into the Irish market and already the music industry is raving about it. So what’s so special if its just like Spotify or Deezer? TIDAL claim to be the first music streaming service that combines the best High Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and expertly curated editorial content from music journalists. Bold statement.

TIDAL gives users a lossless sound experience (same as Deezer) with access to over 25 million tracks, 75,000 HD music videos and some of the best music editorial content out there. Too good to be true? Well it depends how much you value your music. I for one listen to music all day during work, my headphones on and plugged in (to Spotify). Spotify Premium costs me a tenner a month for unlimited, ad-free music- we all know how fucking annoying the Spotify ads are. TIDAL on the other hand will set you back twenty quid a month. If its claiming to give me better audio (I don’t care much for the music videos) and give me access to some nice fleshy music content then maybe, maybe its worth it. Let us have a look at the stats:

Lossless Explained

Am I sold? 100%. The concept is pretty awesome to be honest. The price, pretty extortionate. But I think the music buffs will lean towards this service for its quality sound and good service is worth the extra tenner a month. It will be interesting to see how TIDAL fairs in the Irish market- if I were Spotify, I’d be scared.

TIDAL is available on PC/MAC, Android, iOS and most of the best known home audio brands.
