Normal People only wrapped up a few weeks ago but it looks like we’ll be seeing Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones back together a lot sooner than we thought.
The pair captured the hearts of international audiences in recent months by starring as Connell and Marianne in Normal People, the TV adaptation of the Sally Rooney novel of the same name. The series wrapped up on RTE earlier this month but it’s now emerged that the national broadcaster will be welcoming Paul and Daisy back this coming Friday night as part of RTE Does Comic Relief.
While both actors were already confirmed to take part, fans were given a teaser this morning when film director and Comic Relief co-creator spoke to Miriam O’Callaghan on RTE Radio One. The man behind several much-loved movies such as Love Actually and Bridget Jones’s Diary revealed that he has already seen pieces from the upcoming event featuring Mescal and Daisy-Jones, saying:
“I can’t even say all about it because there’s a guest star in it. I mean, one of the things about Comic Relief is it just gives opportunities for things to happen that would never happen. I can’t imagine any context in which they would have allowed a sort of little extra special into the world of Normal People – and you guys have got two! I promise you, though, these are two very special bits.”
Who’s the guest star then? Because if it’s that Jamie fella from Normal People, there’ll be uproar. Be sure to tune into RTE Does Comic Relief this Friday at 8pm to find out what’s in store.
