Omniplex has announced the temporary closure of all its cinemas in the Republic

Omniplex has confirmed that all of its cinemas will be closed temporarily, in line with new Government Covid-19 restrictions.

Last night, it was announced that all 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland will be placed into risk level 3 of Covid-19 restrictions which means that no indoor gatherings should be held, such as ‘business, training events, conferences, events in theatres and cinemas.’

Following this, Omniplex has now confirmed that all of its cinemas in ROI will close, taking to social media to say: ‘Unfortunately due to new Government restrictions, we’re temporarily closing our cinemas in the ROI from midnight tonight. There has been no change to cinemas in Northern Ireland. As cinemas have proven over the past few weeks, we can operate in a new way very safely and we’ll see you all soon.’

Regarding those who have already purchased tickets, the company added that ‘All pre-purchased tickets for the period of our closure will be automatically refunded in the coming days and MyOmniPass accounts will be paused from tomorrow.’

When contacted by Lovin, Omniplex said: ‘we plan to re-open once government restrictions are lifted or amended. We look forward to welcoming our guests back soon.’

Just last week, Omniplex announced a line-up of Halloween-themed movies that were due to be screened throughout October. All counties are currently scheduled to remain in level 3 until midnight on Tuesday, October 27.
