Paul Mescal is probably one of the most in-demand men on the planet right now. Everyone wants a piece of the Kildare actor following his meteoric rise to fame as Connell Waldron on Normal People.
Recently named as a nominee for the 2020 Emmy Awards, the Irishman is in the running for Outstanding Lead Actor in A Limited Series category. Up against some pretty tough competition, it turns out that Hugh Jackman – one of his fellow nominees – counts himself as a fan.
Speaking to E!, Paul revealed that he’s had quite a few celebrity fans reach out to him following his Normal People debut including Jackman who apparently sent him the “most gorgeous email”.
Asked if there’s anyone he’s “super excited to have heard from”, Paul answered:
“There’s been tons of people that have reached out. The one recently, I think two or three weeks ago, Hugh Jackman reached out and I’m a massive, super fan of him. He sent the most gorgeous email and now I’m kind of pinching myself that I’m nominated in the same category as him and it just feels really surreal.”
Are we all that surprised though? There aren’t many who haven’t been impressed by the newcomer… even Kourtney Kardashian made calls for a second Normal People series earlier this year (to no avail, unfortunately).
