We've all had to turn down an invitation to a social function at one time or another.

One man in Ireland who probably gets invited to more social functions than most of us is President Michael D. Higgins. 

This happened quite recently when the Dublin branch of the Finn Harps Supporters Club kindly extended an invitation to Mr. Higgins asking him to attend a table quiz which they were organising. 

Unfortunately, the President was unable to attend but instead of ignoring the invite, he reached out to explain his reasons:

If you'd like to take the place of Mr. Higgins or indeed get your own team together, the Finn Harps Supporters Club will hold their annual table quiz starting at 8.00pm on Thursday April 27 at the Grand Central Bar on Dublin's O'Connell Street.
