President Higgins and some major Irish movie stars to appear on last Late Late of the series

President Michael D Higgins will appear on the final Late Late Show of the current series, Ryan Tubridy confirmed this morning.

The Late Late Show wraps up for the summer this coming Friday and RTE has pulled out all the stops to ensure some high-profile guests for the series swansong. Not only will Ryan be chatting to the head of state in a pre-recorded interview, there will also be appearances by two of Ireland’s biggest Hollywood stars, namely Saoirse Ronan and Colin Farrell as well as frontline workers who have been so pivotal to Ireland’s fight against Covid-19.

Speaking on his RTE Radio One show this morning, Tubridy said: “We’re going to have President Michael D Higgins with us on Friday night. Well not with us on Friday night. We’re going to see him in Arás an Uachtaráin and interview him in the gardens there this week.”

He added “Then we will also talk to the likes of Saoirse Ronan and Colin Farrell and others. We’ll also have members of the frontline joining us to salute them essentially, which I think is the right way to do it.”

While this may be the end of The Late Late Show for a few months, Tubridy is always looking forward and he gave an update on this year’s Toy Show last week. In light of the difficult 2020 we’ve all faced, he said that “it’s going to be as big, if not bigger, than ever, because it’s going to be extra special.”

You can catch The Late Late Show finale this coming Friday at 9.35pm on RTE One.
