PSA – The Father Ted Christmas special is on TV tonight

Cancel everything else or at least press the record button because the Father Ted Christmas special will be on our screens this evening.

Christmas is very much upon us and if you still weren’t convinced, all you need to do is check the TV listings. The last few nights have seen some classic festive TV specials crop up and that will become more frequent as we get closer to the 25th.

As you’re all aware, one of the greatest Christmas specials in TV history is the Father Ted one, otherwise known as A Christmassy Ted. First broadcast on Christmas Eve 1996, it’s usually repeated on the same night annually but tonight fans can get a glimpse a lot earlier than that.

The episode will be screened on More4 this evening and if you’re looking for it, the channel is available to Virgin customers on channel 118 and to Sky customers on channel 137. While you’ve probably seen it countless times, your favourite moments are still sure to raise a chuckle, whether it’s Mrs. Doyle’s attempts at guessing Father Todd Unctious’ name, the escape from the lingerie section or Ted’s bitter and twisted Golden Cleric speech. And who could forget Ruud Gullit sitting on a shed?

You can catch A Christmassy Ted tonight on More4 from 9pm.
