Yes, believe it or not, there actually were some box office hits this year!
Fast & Furious 9, No Time To Die, Minions 2, Jungle Cruise, Top Gun: Maverick, Black Widow, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Free Guy, Morbius, Dune… just a handful of the absolutely MASSIVE blockbusters that had been scheduled to arrive in Irish cinemas in 2020, but never arrived.
While cinemas have been closed for the majority of the year, there have actually still been a handful of movies that made some serious bank in the last twelve months. Sure, none of them got anywhere near the billion dollar mark that might have been expected of them, but enough folk around the world still bought tickets for them to turn over a tidy profit.
So to celebrate the end of the 2020 cinematic year, we’ve put a little quiz together for ten of the biggest box office hits of the year, and you’ve got three minutes to answer all of the questions on them.
A slight note: The actual biggest box office hit of the year was The Eight Hundred, a Chinese war movie, and it made more money at the worldwide box office than any other movie in 2020. But considering that movie, as well as the #6 movie Legend Of Deification, weren’t actually released in Ireland at all, we’ve skipped over them both.
