RTE has announced a huge televised comedy night which it hopes will raise much-needed funds for the Irish charity sector.

Taking place on Friday, June 26, RTE Does Comic Relief will feature a whole host of the biggest names in Irish comedy including Dara O Briain, the stars of Derry Girls, Chris O'Dowd, Amy Huberman, Paul Howard, Jason Byrne, Zig & Zag and a whole lot more.

The night will be hosted by Deirdre O'Kane, Nicky Byrne, Jennifer Zamparelli and Eoghan McDermott and there will be appearances from other massive names such as Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones from Normal People as well as their director on the hit show Lenny Abrahamson. Niall Horan will also be turning up, as will Nathan Carter, Andrew Scott and Hozier.

Speaking about RTÉ Does Comic Relief, O'Kane said: "After three years of fantastic live fundraising events, it's so exciting to be bringing this to TV for the first time in Ireland with RTÉ.

"I'm in awe of the response we've already received from comedians and performers and the incredible efforts our partners at RTÉ and the Community Foundation for Ireland have put in to make the show happen.

"It's going to be a memory-making night that'll raise serious funds to help people who need it most as a result of Covid-19."

Zig and Zag themselves have promised appearance of some old friends so we could even see the likes of Zuppy and/or Ted show up...
