Reeling in the Years has made a welcome return to our screens in recent weeks and, as always, the soundtrack is one of the best elements of the nostalgic RTÉ show.
After a long hiatus (and endless repeats), Reeling in the Years returned with brand new episodes back in April, covering the years 2010-2019. As of now, we've reached the 2013 episode which aired on Sunday night, reliving memories of the horse meat scandal, the Ireland women's Grand Slam victory and the election of Pope Francis.
The tunes in the episode would have been danced to in the towns and cities of Ireland eight years ago, with the likes of Get Lucky by Daft Punk, Pompeii by Bastille and Can't Hold Us by Macklemore all featuring. If you liked what you heard, you can listen through the whole playlist (and loads that didn't make the cut) courtesy of RITY producer John O'Regan. And, if 2013 isn't your preference, you can also go through all the other years that RTÉ have been reeling in via this link here.
It won't be long before we're fully up to date with world events right up to 2019. Anything after that is not worth mentioning, to be fair. Reeling in the Years airs on Sunday nights at 8.30pm on RTÉ One.
