Normal People special

RTE will air two new Normal People specials this Friday night.

Normal People fans are in for a treat this week as RTÉ will air two new specials as part of RTE Does Comic Relief. Safe to say we didn’t expect the gang to reunite so soon – not that we’re complaining.

Stars Paul Mescal and Daisy-Edgar Jones will return, alongside Irish director Lenny Abrahamson who directed the first six episodes of the series. Reprising their roles as Connell and Marianne, it’s believed that the new episodes will revisit the characters 40 years in the future.

Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan on RTE Radio, Comic Relief co-creator Richard Curtis gave fans a hint of what’s to come.

“There’s a beautiful piece called Normal Older People, which is imagining what would have happened to Marianne and Connell 40 years from now. I promise you, these are two very special bits.”

“It’s so much better than anything we’ve ever made. I mean I can’t even say all about it because there’s a guest star in it. But it’s really, it’s really beautiful,” he added.

No word of who the guest star is just yet though so I guess we’ll have to wait until Friday night for the big reveal.
