Russell Crowe has shared the magic of the Late Late Toy Show on his Twitter page and it seems it’s just what his 2.7 million-strong following needed.
Yesterday, it was announced that applications for toy testers and performers at this year’s Toy Show are now open and Hollywood star Russell Crowe has assisted the recruitment process by sharing an RTE video that invites people to take part.
Clearly a massive fan of the annual televised event, the Gladiator star captioned the post with the words: ‘Doesn’t matter where you’re from, if you have a kind soul and an open heart you’ll appreciate how wonderful this tradition from Ireland is. The Late Late Toy Show is looking for toy testers!’
The clip features some of the biggest stars of Toy Shows past such as aspiring horologist John Joe Brennan, Robbie Keane fan Domhnall, and Aimee Keogh, who met her idol Ed Sheeran in the 2014 edition…

Some of the comments underneath Russell Crowe’s post came from Irish people who are more than familiar with the Toy Show but others posted things like ‘I have never seen it and from the video it is so magical’ and ‘I didn’t know about this…thanks for sharing something so wonderfully positive!’
2020 has been a year we’ll never forget for all the wrong reasons and the Toy Show could be just tonic we need when it rolls around in the weeks before Christmas. Ryan Tubridy has promised that it will be the “most remarkable” Toy Show yet and fingers crossed the outlook for the Covid-19 situation will be slightly more positive by the time it hits our screens.
If your child wants to be one of the stars of this year’s Toy Show, simply fill out this application form and upload a short clip of them singing, dancing, or just having the chats.
Tell ’em Russell Crowe sent ya.
