Starting date confirmed for new Reeling In The Years series covering 2010 to 2019

Reeling In The Years is coming back and it will start airing in April, with new episodes covering the years 2010 all the way up to 2019.

Reeling in the Years remains one of Ireland’s favourite programmes but the nature of the nostalgic show means that new episodes don’t come around very often. The most recent series of RITY was broadcast in 2010, covering the events of year 2000 right up until 2009 and RTÉ has now confirmed that new episodes covering the 2010s will start broadcasting in April.

The first episode will air at 8.30pm on Sunday, April 11 on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player, covering the events 2010. You would expect the new series to start with the extreme cold snap the country endured in January of that year as well as the Icelandic volcano that wrecked havoc on the airline industry. Now that we’ve lived through Covid travel restrictions, that all just seems like a minor inconvenience, doesn’t it?

The episodes are sure to take us through Katie Taylor’s Olympic gold, Ireland’s Euro 2016 journey as well as the historic referenda on same-sex marriage and the repealing of the Eighth Amendment. We’re also bound to see plenty of Nidge, Dublin GAA dominance and the papal visit of 2018.

That’s Sunday nights sorted for a couple of months. As long as we don’t have to think about 2020 or 2021, we’re happy.
