Study Reveals This Sibling Is Always The Troublemaker Of The Family

Sarah

We all know that parents have a favourite child (apparently it’s the eldest), and now it’s discovered that not only does the second-born sibling loved less, they’re also more likely to be troublemakers.

A new report from an MIT economist found that people born second in the family “are inclined to be more rebellious than their older siblings,” meaning they usually do fairly risky and wild things.

And the reason for this? It’s just bad ol’ luck for us second-borns apparently.

The study says that first-borns have better role models, usually adults, but the “second, later-born children have role models who are slightly irrational two-year-olds, you know, their older siblings.”

“Both the parental investments are different, and the sibling influences probably contribute to these differences we see in the labor market and what we find in delinquency. It’s just very difficult to separate those two things because they happen at the same time.”

Ugh. First-borns get all the luck. Do you know a second-born troublemaker?
