Bank Of Ireland Customers Be Warned Of This New Scam Doing The Rounds

Alana Laverty

Bank of Ireland customers are advised to be wary of a new ‘smishing’ scam that is currently doing the rounds.

A number of customers reported that they received text messages today claiming that their account had been locked and directing them to a website where they were asked to submit personal information.

Many customers were concerned about how their phone number was accessed in the first place, but Bank of Ireland reassured customers that often non-customers get texts too so it’s probably just scammers chancing their arm.

The bank is asking those targeted by the scam not to click into any links, forward screenshots of the scam, including the phone number it came from, to [email protected] immediately and then delete the message.
