The musical rendition of the Irish autobiography first took to the stage in 2017.
The Olympia Theatre is streaming Angela’s Ashes: The Musical on Thursday the 9th September at 7:30pm. Angela’s Ashes is an Irish classic, written by Frank McCourt in 1996. The story cover McCourt’s youth and his entry into adulthood, and all the struggles that came with it. Frank documents growing up in poverty in Limerick with his drunken father and depressed mother. It is a tale of woe and devastation, and yet it is often these exact stories that make the best musicals (Oliver, Les Misérables, West Side Story, well, you get the idea).

Angela’s Ashes won the elusive Pulitzer Prize in 1997, and is considered a global success. The musical will stream live on Thursday night, not just for an Irish audience, but also in the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York. It will also be available to watch on demand from the 10th-12th September.
